Efforts to capture Faruk Fatih Özer, the founder and manager of the crypto currency exchange Thodex, sought with red bulletin, concentrated on Albania, Montenegro, Kosovo and North Macedonia with the participation of two teams from Turkey.
The investigation, initiated by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on April 22, on the allegation that a large number of people were victimized due to the inability to access the Thodex company’s website, continues.
Within the scope of the investigation, the Turkish Interpol stepped in and warned the Interpol police of the country where he could escape, in order to capture Özer, about whom a red notice was issued by Interpol.
Efforts to capture Özer are mainly carried out in this country after it was determined that he fled to Albania.
Two teams of 5 each, formed by the General Directorate of Security, also support the work.
One of the teams coordinates with his Albanian colleagues, and the other with his colleagues in North Macedonia, Kosovo and Montenegro, where Özer is likely to escape.
The teams, which track down the people with whom Özer is connected, also make use of the statements of the suspects detained within the scope of the investigation.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVESTIGATION
Within the scope of the investigation, 78 of the 82 suspects against whom the arrest warrant was issued so far were detained.
Among the suspects taken into custody, 6 of them were arrested, including Faruk Fatih Özer’s brother Güven Özer and his brother Serap Özer, and all of the other suspects were released, 35 on the condition of judicial control.
Efforts are underway to capture 4 fugitive suspects, including the founder and manager of Thodex, Faruk Fatih Özer.
