In November 2020 in Russia, the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) and Channel One channel organized a competition called “Challenge” for the crew of the first feature film to be shot in space. In March, 20 finalists who passed the medical examination were added to the list.
In the statement made by Roscosmos, it was stated that director Klim Shipenko and Russian actress Yulia Peresild will be sent to the International Space Station (ISS) in October to shoot a feature film. The agency announced that Alyona Mordovina and Alexey Dudin were selected as backup teams.

THE FILM TEAM WILL BE SENT ON JUNE 5th
It was stated that the team that will shoot a movie at the station will be enrolled in special education as of June 1, and new methods will be used in this training and the team that will be sent to space will be ready by October. The film crew is scheduled to be sent into space on October 5 by Soyuz MS-19 spacecraft from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in South Kazakhstan.
It has been suggested that the subject of the film will revolve around a young female surgeon who will have to operate on a sick cosmonaut who flies to the ISS and whose medical condition does not allow it to return to Earth.
According to Roscosmos, the film will be part of a huge educational and scientific project that also aims to make some documentaries about rocket and space industry companies.
