The incident took place in Yenibaraj District of Seyhan district on April 21st. According to the allegation, while Büşra (23) and her brother Emine Ölker (21) were walking on the sidewalk, Büşra Ölker took out her mobile phone and started taking selfies. Meanwhile, someone who came across took the young woman’s cell phone and ran away.
Both women continued to chase the snatcher for a while. The snatcher went into the garden of an apartment building and tried to jump over the wire fences. Meanwhile, while Büşra Ölker was about to catch it, the snatcher managed to jump over the wire fences and ran away. The young woman also tried to pass behind the fence, but the snatcher walked away from the scene. These moments were recorded by the security camera.
The women later filed a complaint to the police. Pickpockets and Fraud Bureau teams affiliated to Adana Police Department Public Security Branch Office took action.
The police, who examined the surveillance footage, determined that the suspect was Kenan P. (34). Police detained Kenan P. by raiding his address in Seyhan district.
The cell phone that the suspect stole was delivered to Büşra Ölker. After the suspect’s statement was taken, she was arrested in the courthouse where she was transferred.
