Two heirs, who wanted to prevent unfair competition, demanded that the products with the logo be recalled. Kartallı Beşiktaş logo was first used in the book titled Beşiktaş Sports History, 75th Year in Turkish Sports, with Vala Somalı’s own drawing.
The logo later appeared on almost all of Beşiktaş’s products. According to the news of Özge Eğrikar from Hürriyet, Yadigar Suzan Dönmez and Hakan Somalı, the children of Vala Somalı, who passed away five years ago, filed a lawsuit with the Istanbul Civil Court of Intellectual and Industrial Rights, claiming that their father’s logo was commercialized.
Vala Somalı, who claims that the Kartallı logo is used in many retail products from linens to jerseys sold on the shopping site of Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club and its association, ‘www.kartalyuvasi.com.tr’, that it is printed on credit cards and that the club uses the logo as if it belongs to them. His children demanded that the brands on the products be deleted from the trade registry, that the transfer of the brand be prevented and that the products be recalled.
