Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama attended the annual conference “State of the Union” organized by the European University Institute in Firenze, Italy.
In his speech, Prime Minister Rama spoke about the statements about his victory in the 25 April elections and the reforms Albania is carrying out on the road to EU integration. Expressing that Europe is of great importance for both Albania and the whole Balkan, Rama said that the Balkan is also of great importance for Europe. Rama drew attention to the need for cooperation between the Balkan countries and Europe.
Asked about Turkey and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Rama said, “There is no doubt that Turkey has a key role in EU security, and the EU also plays a key role for a stronger Turkey. If we are going to talk about the region, I can say that we have very good relations with Turkey, relations with Erdogan are also important.
“THESE NEWS LIMIT ME”
Saying, “There is not even a trace of Erdogan working for the Ottomanization of the country in Albania or the region,” Rama said, “According to some unfounded news, mosques are being built in Albania to gain influence, these news annoy me, no, these are not real. As for the mosques, we are grateful for the restoration projects. On the other hand, there has not been a single attempt by Turkey to intervene in its disputes with Greece ”.
